In case of such an activation, injury due to contact with the airbags is not completely impossible. Damage to the plug-in contact can impair the power supply of the vehicle. There is a possibility that the vehicle entry does not function anymore or that it may no longer be possible to start the vehicle. There is a possibility that, the suction flow pump performance is severely reduced. As a consequence of that, the fuel gauge can show an incorrect indication if a lower fuel delivery rate is present from the left to the right side of the tank. This can cause the engine to stop under certain driving conditions, even if fuel gauge indicated a sufficient fuel level. BMW has not received any reports and is not otherwise aware of any injuries or fatalities related to the issue.
