Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the premier apex body representing 50 leading Vehicle and Engine manufacturers, is organizing its 54th Annual Convention on Friday, 12th September 2014 at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi.
The automobile industry plays a highly significant role in economic development of nations - witnessed in all major developed countries - USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, S Korea and now in developing economies like China and India. The Auto Industry in India has emerged to become s a major contributor to India’s GDP. This dynamic industry currently accounts for almost 7.1% of our GDP and employs about 29 million people both directly and indirectly. Contribution of Auto Industry to development of India is immense and increasingly becoming far more important due to its economic linkages, its contribution to rural India and its contribution to international trade. Therefore, the theme of this year’s programme is “Auto Industry – The Engine of Growth”.
The convention would focus on providing insights on Indian automotive industry’s linkages with overall development of the economy.
It would also highlight issues with regards to competitiveness, growth and its integration with the global economy. Senior industry experts from all over the world, including CEOs and senior representatives from the Indian / Global OEMs and component manufacturers, will participate in this programme. This event is also attended by the policy makers and the decision makers of the Government of India, including Ministers and Secretaries, apart from other stakeholders including the media. Over the years, this event has become India’s most important annual automotive convention.
